Research Assistantship Available at the Northern Center for Learning and Health (NCLH)

The Research Assistant will work with the research team at the Northern Center for Learning and Health, directed by Dr. Forrest Toegel on projects in collaboration with the Center for Learning and Health (CLH) at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and the Institute for Behavioral Resources’ REACH Health Service (REACH). All Research Assistant duties will take place at Northern Michigan University. The primary duties will involve analyzing data, preparing presentations, and assisting with manuscript preparations. Additional duties will involve remote interactions with faculty and staff at the CLH and REACH and, depending on the project, may also involve remote interactions with participants living in Baltimore, MD. Work allocated to these projects will be about 20 hours per week.
The Research Assistant must enroll as a graduate student in the Department of Psychological Science. In addition to the assistantship, the student will complete the coursework and thesis required for the Master’s program in Psychology. The thesis can be completed in any of the associated Toegel Laboratory research areas (see Research Projects tab). The Research Assistant will receive a tuition waiver and stipend for the duration of the program, including summer (2 years).
Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) Project
Project Title: Contingency Management to Enhance Office-Based Buprenorphine Treatment for Opioid Use Disorder (OBOT-2018C2-13147)
Under Dr. Toegel’ s supervision, the research assistant will work with research staff at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine to prepare the study data for analyses, and summarize and graph data for reports, publications, and presentations.
National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) Project
Project Title: Long-Term Treatment of Opioid Use Disorder (R01 DA053218)
The Research Assistant will collect data on adherence of REACH Mobile Health Services staff in adhering to the Therapeutic Workplace procedures, conduct some of the intake interviews, randomize some of the participants, conduct some of the outcome assessments, and prepare data for analysis.
